Those attending in addition to the celebrants were, their children and in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Topper, Mr. and Mrs. Thornton Rodgers, Mr. and Mrs. Pius E. Kelly, Mrs. Marie C. Rosensteel, and several of their grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Loris Glunt, Donald Rodgers and Barbara Ann Rosensteel. Mrs. Jackson Humerick, who was bridesmaid for the celebrants at their marriage in 1902, was also a guest at the dinner.Mr. and Mrs. Kelly were married on January 29, 1902 at St. Anthony's Shrine Church by the Rev. John B. Manley. Mrs. Kelly was the former Annie L. Humerick, daughter of the late George and Annie Humerick, and Mr. Kelly is the son of the late Virginia and Jerome Kelly. Recalling the day they were married, Mr. Kelly said that they had a hard time getting to Thurmont to take the train for Baltimore, where they spent a three weeks wedding trip with Mrs. Kelly's sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Pfeiffer. On Sunday afternoon from 2 until five, an 'open house' was held and approximately sixty relatives and friends of the couple called to offer congratulations. They were: John M. Roddy, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Norman Riley, Mrs. John Kump, Mrs. Quincy Shoemaker, Mrs. Esta Miller, Mrs. John Zacharias, Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. William Rodgers and daughter, Kathy; Mr. and Mrs. William Topper, Mrs. Herbert White, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Kugler, Mrs. George Brown, Mrs. Carrie Long, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stoner and son, Woody; Miss Alice Taney, Edward Stull, Mrs. J. A. Humerick, Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Shorb and family, Miss Jeanette Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Chrismer, Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Seiss, Miss Alice Kelly, Lewis J. Kelly, all of Emmitsburg; Mrs. Elizabeth Pfeiffer, Mrs. Elmer Rudy and son, Dan, Mr. and Mrs. John Owens and daughter, Linda, all of Baltimore; Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers Topper and daughter, Patsy, of Mount Airy; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sanders and family. Both Mr. and Mrs. Kelly are 80 years old and are in the best of health. Mr. Kelly has been employed for the past fifteen years by Miss Alice Taney as caretaker and during the winter months when there isn't much to do around the Taney residence, he does custom broom making, by hand power, at his home. Mrs. Kelly is about her household duties every day, despite a very serious operation when she was 77 years old. On Tuesday morning, January 29, the actual day of the anniversary,a Mass was offered at seven o'clock in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, by the assistant pastor, Rev. Michael O'Brien, C. M. The servers for the Mass were Donald Rodgers and Allen Stoner. In addition to their four children, the jubilarians also have twenty-four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Gifts of money were given them by their children and the grandchildren gave them a purse of money. They also received many other lovely gifts." "Mrs. Lydia Annie Kelly, of DePaul Street, Emmitsburg, died at Annie Warner Hospital, Gettysburg, yesterday at 12:20 p.m., aged 87 years. She had been a patient at the hospital for three days. Having lived in the Emmitsburg area all her life, she was a daughter of the late George Thomas Humerick and Annie Jackson Humerick. Her husband, the late John S. (sic) Kelly, died on February 17 of this year. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Emmitsburg. She was also a member of the Sodality and the Altar and Rosary Society of the church. One son and two daughters survive: Mrs. Ethel Topper of Emmitsburg; Pius E. Kelly of Newry, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Marie C. Rosensteel of Emmitsburg. Also surviving are two sisters and one brother: Mrs.Jeanette Chrismer, Long View Nursing Home, Manchester; Mrs. Elizabeth Pfeiffer of Baltimore and Albert Humerick of Altoona, Pennsylvania. Twenty-four grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning. Friends will meet at the Allison Funeral Home in Emmitsburg, followed by requiem mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, conducted by Rev. James Twomey. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Allison Funeral Home in Emmitsburg Friday after 7 p.m. where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m." [note: a similar account appeared in the Gettysburg Times of Tuesday Evening, November 11, 1958.] Funeral Notice for Annie Lydia Humerick Rodgers Kelly from the Frederick News of Tuesday, November 18, 1958: "Funeral services were held from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Emmitsburg, Saturday morning for Mrs. Lydia Annie Kelly, 87, of DePaul Street, Emmitsburg, who died at the Annie M. Warner Hospital, Gettysburg, on Tuesday. Rev. Father Twomey officiated and interment was made in the church cemetery. The pallbearers, all grandsons of the deceased, were Rodgers Topper, William Topper, Eugene Rodgers, William Rodgers, Patrick Kelly, and Michael Kelly." Article from the Gettysburg Times of Thursday, November 20, 1958: "Visitors during the weekend at the home of Mrs. Marie Rosensteel were: Mrs. Elizabeth Pfeiffer, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Rudy and son, Danny, and George Pfeiffer, all of Baltimore; Mr. and Mrs. Pius Kelly and children, Ricky, Eileen, Becky, Connie, Micke and Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. Loris Gluntz (sic) and children, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hetrick and children, and Miss Susan Rycroft, all of Newry, Pennsylvania; Sister Mary Jane Kelly and Sister Ursula, of St. Aloysius Convent, Crescent, Pennsylvania; Mr. and Mrs. George Arnold, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. George Arnold, Jr. and son, Paul, of Taneytown. While here, they attended the funeral of Mrs. Annie Kelly held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Saturday morning."
