Mr. Kirk was born in County Tyrone, Ireland, in August 1864, and was only a little past fifty years of age at the time of his death. He was the son of John and Anna Kirk, and was one of a family of eight children. His father died in the old country and when Andrew was about nine years old the mother with her family came to Carroll Co. where Andrew grew to manhood. On September 25, 1907, he was married at Carroll to Miss Elizabeth Pape, who survives him, with four small children, the names of these being Rose, Cornelius, Dorothy, Eileen. Other surviving relatives are Thomas Kirk, of Chicago, and Cornelius Kirk, of Omaha, brothers, Mrs. Daniel Morgan and Miss Kate Kirk, of Carroll, sisters of the deceased. Mr. Kirk was elected a member of the Board of Supervisors of Carroll county in 1898, in which office he served two terms, faithfully and honestly guarding the trust that had been reposed in him by the people of the county. He was an active and influential member of the Democratic party and always took an interest in the work of promoting principles and doctrines of that organization. Mr. Kirk was an industrious and successful farmer and held a high place in the respect, confidence and esteem of the community in which he lived. He was a member of the Catholic church and of the Knights of Columbus. His funeral was held at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Carroll, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. the members of Charles Carroll Council K. of C. being present in a body.
