Mr. and Mrs. Jay Lighter and son, Jay Jr., attended the last rites for Mrs. Hollesen Monday at the Methodist church of Sioux Rapids. Burial was in the Sioux Rapids cemetery.∼Anine was the daughter of Soren Jensen and Ane Marie Poulsen. She married Lew Hollesen on 1 November 1893 at Willow Creek, Clay, Iowa. They were the parents of Ben, Harry, Lula, Verne, Darreld, Estelle, Lewis, and Ethel. January 8, 1953 - Sioux Rapids Bulletin Press - Funeral services for Mrs. Anine Hollesen, who died on her 76th birthday, Jan. 2, at the Sioux Rapids hospital following a heart attack, were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 5, at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock with the Rev. C.W. Kimbrell officiating. Burial was made in Lone Tree cemetery. Mrs. Hollesen suffered a severe heart attack that morning and died a few hours afterwards. She is survived by four sons, two daughters, two sisters, one brother, 24 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in 1932. Two children, Harry and Lula (Mrs. George Cullen) and two brothers and one sister, have also preceded her in death. Anine Jensen Hollesen, first child of Soren and Marie Jensen, was born January 2, 1877 at Rossville, Illinois and passed away in the Sioux Rapids hospital on her 76th birthday, Jan 2, 1953, within a few hours after a severe heart attack. Mrs. Hollesen came to Iowa with her parents when she was six years of age, and they settled on a farm northeast of Alta. She has continued to reside in Buena Vista county for the past 70 years. The deceased was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Peterson, Ia., when she was 14 years of age. She joined the Lincoln, Lee Methodist church in 1914 and later joined the Sioux Rapids Methodist church in 1951. Mrs. Hollesen was united in marriage with Lew Hollesen in November of 1892 at Peterson, Ia, and to this union eight children were born, six of whom survive. After farming southwest of Rembrandt and in Lincoln-Lee for several years, the family moved to a farm east of Sioux Rapids in 1914. One year later the family moved to Sioux Rapids, which has been her home. Mr Hollesen passed away May 28, 1932. She was a member of the Sioux Rapids American Legion Auxiliary and the Methodist Woman's Society of Christian Service and was as active in these organizations as her health permitted, until her death. "Grandma Hollesen," as she was fondly referred to by friends and relatives alike, had a remarkable zest for living, and was a familiar figure at many of the community's various activities. During her long widowhood, she met life's problems with a courage and wisdom that was to be envied. Children surviving are: Ben, Verne and Jack, of Sioux Rapids; Darrel of Spirit Lake: Stella (Mrs. Earl Crowe) of Hinckley, Minn.; and Ethel (Mrs. J.H. Lighten) of Milford. Brothers and sisters surviving are Walter Jensen of Storm Lake, Mrs. Emma Fuller of Hinckley, Minn., and Mrs Arthur Rydstrom of Alta, Ia.
