WALLACE We are called upon this week to chronicle the death of an old resident of Amaranth in the person of Ann Wallace, relict of the late Wm. Wallace, which sad event occurred at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. R. Hewitt, lot 6, 5th line, Amaranth, on Saturday evening last. Deceased had been a resident of Amaranth for the past fifty years and was well-known throughout the country. She was born in the county Monaghan, Ireland in 1808 and emigrated to the United States in 1837, where she lived for four years, after which she came to Amaranth and has resided there ever since. Deceased leaves a family of three sons and three daughters; Samuel of Orangeville and William and Albert of Amaranth, Mrs. R. Hewitt, Amaranth, Mrs. Joseph Carson, Stratford, and Mrs. Wm. Duncan, Buffalo, N.Y. The remains were interred in the town cemetery on Tuesday, being followed to the grave by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and neighbors. The bereaved ones have our heartfelt sympathy.
