WILLIAM WALLACE OF AMARANTH DIES IN TORONTO AFTER AN OPERATION Last week we briefly announced the death of Mr. William Wallace of Amaranth and it was indeed a surprise to his friends and neighbors. For some time the deceased gentleman had been suffering with kidney trouble, but was always able to attend to his duties. On the 5th instant, accompanied by his wife and son, John S., he went to Toronto and upon the advice of his physician entered the General hospital to have an operation performed, which would relieve, if not cure him. The following Tuesday afternoon he was operated on and next morning at 7 o'clock was a corpse. He never regained consciousness. The late Mr. Wallace was born in Chinguacousy township 67 years ago and his parents moved to Amaranth 60 years ago and he has resided there ever since. Deceased was a man who possessed many good qualities and his unexpected death is deeply regretted by many friends. He leaves a widow who is a sister of Messrs. S. J. and George Brown of Amaranth, and a family of nine. They are: John S. Wallace collector of Amaranth, Edward of Green Bay, Wis., Herbert and Mrs. Pychin of St. Paul, Minn., George E. of Illinois, Mrs. Wallace Parks of Wisconsin, Miss Myra of California, Alfred and Miss Lucy at home. The remains were brought to his home on Thursday and the funeral took place Saturday afternoon to Greenwood cemetery, Orangeville, a very large number of carriages being in the procession.
