Description	:	Ann Lapthorn Thornton was born in Devonshire, England, April 20, 1850, coming to America with her parents July 5, 1871, where she lived on a farm till June 20, the following year, when she was united in marriage to John Rundle and located on his homestead in Hayes township, where together they shared the hardships of the pioneer life, living there until her death, June 2, 1917, having spent 45 years at this home, her age being 67 years, 1 month and 12 days. Read More	Ann Lapthorn Thornton was born in Devonshire, England, April 20, 1850, coming to America with her parents July 5, 1871, where she lived on a farm till June 20, the following year, when she was united in marriage to John Rundle and located on his homestead in Hayes township, where together they shared the hardships of the pioneer life, living there until her death, June 2, 1917, having spent 45 years at this home, her age being 67 years, 1 month and 12 days. To this union were born eight children, four boys and four girls. Three preceded her to the better land, one boy and one girl dying in infancy and Minnie Helen July 11, 1900, aged 25 years. Besides a loving husband, she leaves to mourn her loss, five children: Annie Elizabeth, John Samuel, William Henry, Thomas Herbert and Helen Maude, and nine grandchildren, all of this community. Mrs. John Rundle was one of the charter members in the organization of the Hayes M.E. church, having borne the privation and hardships of the early settlers. Her home was always open to the traveling preachers, of whatever denomination they might be. Her life was not spent in vain. She has gone to her reward and the church to which she belonged stands as a monument of her devotion to the cause of Christ. Those who knew her best can testify how often she rendered assistance to those in need. She was seldom absent from Sunday school, ladies' aid meetings, and other services of the church. Besides her immediate family, she leaves five sisters and three brothers; William, Thomas, Herbert Thornton; Mrs. John Bushell, Mrs. W.H. Miller, Mrs. Mary Rundle and Mrs. Frances McIntire, all of the community. Mrs. James Brown of Darby, Mont,. and Samuel Thornton of Puyallup, Wash. We shall miss her; but let us strive to emulate her example by trying to do what we can that we may meet as an unbroken family beyond the skies, where parting is not more. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, services first at the home and then at the Hayes M.E. church, Rev. F. A. Whittlesey in charge. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery.
