Description	:	Ann Peterson Neese, 91, formerly of 1101 Teneyck Street in Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford on Wednesday evening, May 30, 2012 where she had lived since April of this year. She was born on September 30, 1920 on a farm northwest of Stratford, the daughter of Bernard and Hulda (Thid) Bergman. Ann attended Bass School in the country near her parent's farm and graduated from Stratford High School in 1938 where she participated in girl's basketball. Read More	Ann Peterson Neese, 91, formerly of 1101 Teneyck Street in Stratford, Iowa passed away at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center in Stratford on Wednesday evening, May 30, 2012 where she had lived since April of this year. She was born on September 30, 1920 on a farm northwest of Stratford, the daughter of Bernard and Hulda (Thid) Bergman. Ann attended Bass School in the country near her parent's farm and graduated from Stratford High School in 1938 where she participated in girl's basketball. On June 10, 1942, she married Lewis "William" Peterson. Together they had three children: Barbara, Sidney and Nolan. William died on September 15, 1984. On July 22, 1987, she married Leo Neese at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji, Minnesota. In addition to raising her children, Ann worked in local businesses and worked with special needs children for many years in the Stratford Elementary School. She was an active member of Stratford Lutheran Church and was an avid fan and dancer of the Tuesday night dances at 801 Shakespeare. Her parents; husbands William on September 15, 1984 and Leo on September 5, 1990; daughter Barbara on January 9, 2011; a sister Edna; and 5 brothers Roy, Harold, Lester, Edgar and Edwin preceded her in death. She is survived by 2 sons Sidney Peterson and wife Kim of Overland Park, Kansas and Nolan Peterson and wife Kelli of Stratford; a son-in-law Bruce Whitson of West Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren Brett and Teresa Whitson both of Lincoln, Nebraska, Becky and Toby Schmidt both of West Des Moines, Iowa, Jamie Peterson of Waseca, Minnesota, and Brandon Peterson of Boone, Iowa; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Services will be held on Monday morning, June 4th at 10:00 a.m. at the Lutheran Church in Stratford with Pastor Joe Lambert officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery north of Stratford. Friends may call at the Lutheran Church in Stratford on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitations will continue at the Church on Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service. Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the Lutheran Church or the Swedish Foundation of Stratford both in Stratford.
