Description	:	Anna Brite/Britte Gudahl (Brithe Anna Rasmusd.) was born October 8/28, 1872, and christened Nov. 24, 1872 in Norway; she came to America with her parents when she was 8 years old. They lived at Owatonna, Minnesota for a few years, then spending time at Howard, S.D. before coming to Minot, N.D. in June, 1902. They lived at Owatonna, Minnesota for a few years, then spending time at Howard, S.D. before coming to Minot, N.D. in June, 1902. She had expected to try and secure a homestead north of Minot, but was told by a minister, whose family she happened to meet on the trip, that an area southweat of Minot was just being opened for homesteaders. Consequently she was one of eight land seekers who came out with a locater, and another driver, in two Democrat wagons, to what is now the Blue Hill area. Included among these eight were John Unseth, Bob Mellom, and Alfred Mathieson. Only one other party had come prior to this time, in search of land. They stopped overnight at the Chris Linnertz cattle-ranch, the buildings of which were located south of the hill just east of the present home of John Linnertz. Mrs. Linnertz was a gracious hostess, as life for a rancher's family was a lonely one, as they would see only an occasional cowboy except on the rare trips to Minot, as their nearest neighbors were the Glennon brothers whose ranch was eleven miles away, near what is now Roseglen. During the time between 1902 and 1906 that she was not staying on the homestead she operated a dress making shop at Minot. Daniel Jackson was born April 10, 1873, in Nelsonville, Wis. In 1902 he came to North Dakota and homesteaded in Blue Hill township and was married to Mrs. Anna Gudahl on October 23/28, 1906. In 1934 he became ill and was bed-ridden for 15 years till his death on Marh 29, 1949. Mrs. Jackson cared for him through his illness. Before his illness he served on the school and township boards. They raised Myrtle Mathieson, who was eight years old when she came to live with them and became their foster daughter. They built a lovely new home of rock in the year 1920.[Myrtle Mathieson was born May 30, 1905. She married Oct. 30, 1946 to Matthias "Matt" Thue, who was Anna's cousin. Myrtle died Dec. 20, 1988.] From Golden Jubilee 1906 - 1956 Ryder, North Dakota. July 18 and 19, 1956. The booklet was prepared and presented by the Ryder Commercial Club. Family stories say that Anna had a marvelous sense of humor. Her sister Malena often complained about Anna, as she didn't think it proper for a woman to laugh and tell jokes like Anna did. Anna died September 9/24, 1954 in Minot, North Dakota. Obituary Notices Anna B. Jackson Mrs. Anna B. Jackson, 80, 519 Valley St., formerly a resident of Bluehill Township south of Ryder for more than 50 years, died early today in a Minot hospital where they had been admitted on Aug. 14. She was born Oct. 28, 1873, in Norway, coming to the United States with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Rasmus Gudahl. The family settled for a brief period in southern Minnesota and then filed on a homestead near Howard, S.D. where she lived until 1902, when she came to North Dakota to homestead in Bluehill Township. In 1953 she retired and moved into Minto. Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Baptist Church. On Oct. 28, 1906, in Minot, she was married to Daniel Jackson, who preceeded her in death five years ago. Survivors include a foster daughter, Mrs. Matt Thue of Howard, S.D.; a sister, Mrs. Ingeborg Johnson of Howard; and a brother, Peter Gudahl of Howard. There are also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of the Thompson Larson funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond B. Hering pastor of the church in Minot officiating. Internment will be made in Rosehill Cemetery beside the grave of her husband.
