She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Anna Catherine Hronek was born January 14, 1894, near Pocahontas on the family farm. She was educated in Pocahontas graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1913. She earned her teaching degree and taught in the Manson, Palmer and Pocahontas areas. She later returned to the family farm to care for her parents and assist two of her brothers with farming. She was a member of the St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, Pocahontas, and the Ladies Society where she was very active with sewing and cooking for many of the Bohemian and three-day bazaars and celebrations. Transcribed by Teresa Davis Anna was also the maid of honor at my grandmother's wedding in February 1911. The story Anna told me was that my grandmother had made herself her wedding dress but it didn't fit so she gave it to Anna and made herself another dress. Anna wore this dress as the maid of honor, saved the dress and passed it on to me. The dress is about a size 0 or maybe a size 2. Very few people today would be able to wear it. Anna was also the family historian but it was all in her mind. She remembered people and events with amazing clarity. I tested her memory by asking the names of the men in the picture and she responded by saying, "I gave you those names last summer but I'll give them to you again." There were three Jospeh Vodraska's that married three Anna's. She knew each one and which child belonged to which couple. I referred to her as the walking family encyclopedia as she was always right when I checked her stories out against courthouse records.
