Read More	SOURCE: The Nebraska Signal August 1956 NELSON, ANNIE C.—Annie C. Nelson, daughter of Jonas P. and Caroline Nelson, was born in Kalmar Lan, Sweden, May 13, 1866. She passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Fox on August 12, 1956, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 29 days. She came with her parents to America in 1877, at the age of 11. The family first located in Illinois, then moving to Fillmore county, Chelsea township. She was the last member of this early pioneer family. Annie lived in her parental home, caring for her invalid sister, Josephine and her aged parents until their deaths. In 1932, she and her brother Fred moved to Geneva, where they lived until Fred's death in 1953. She then moved to the home of her niece, Mrs. E. L. Fox, who cared for her until her passing. Early in her life she became a Christian. She joined the United Brethren church at Chelsea in 1888, transferring to Geneva after moving. Annie was very devoted to her church being very interested in missions—giving generously in helping spread the Gospel. She leaves in remembrance two nephews, Ed Nelson of Geneva and Elmer Nelson of Humboldt; six nieces, Mrs. Eda Anderson of Lincoln; Mrs. Irene Brainard of Omaha, Mrs. Minnie Fox, Mrs. Tillie Anderson, Mrs. Sarah Miller and Miss Mae Nelson of Geneva, many grand-nieces and nephews and a host of friends. The memorial service was held Tuesday, August 14, at the Kritner-Ashby chapel in Geneva and was conducted by Rev. Wayne Schreurs. Mrs. James Hanlin sang "Rock of Ages" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," accompanied by Mrs. Oscar Nelson. The pallbearers were Alvah Miller, Alfred Lentfer, Ed Myers, Fred Nunns, Arthur Ekwall and Dave Robare. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
