Mrs. Johnson was born a daughter of General Marion Ray and Myrtle Elizabeth Russell Ray on January 9, 1926, in Andrews. She was a retired seamstress and inspector of Oneita Industries. Mrs. Johnson was born a daughter of General Marion Ray and Myrtle Elizabeth Russell Ray on January 9, 1926, in Andrews. She was a retired seamstress and inspector of Oneita Industries. She was lifelong member of Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church where she faithfully served in the Ladies Auxiliary, as a Sunday School Teacher, Church Secretary, Choir member, and Elder. Her greatest joy and her life’s dedication was to her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, caring sister, and a loyal friend. She leaves behind a Godly heritage to her family and to all those whose life she touched. She was a prayer warrior for many and lived her live through the words of Proverbs 31:30, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." Elizabeth and Sidney were married on October 18, 1941, and celebrated 5 years together. Their home was blessed with: three daughters, Lennie Odum, Noveline Jackson (Rev. Ronald), and Doris Powell (Randy). After serving in the United States Army, Sidney returned home but passed away in an accident shortly afterwards. Yet, this tragedy only defined Ms. Elizabeth as she displayed strength, honor, and determination while facing life’s challenges and making her house a home for her girls and their families. Her resolve let her be blessed to behold 12 grandchildren, Phillip Odom (Chris), Beth Miller (Donny), Angie Gunter (Shelton), Darlene Cantley (Timmy), Francis Jackson, Patricia Ihnfeldt (Henry), Jackie Rhodes, Ronnie Jackson (Denise), David Jackson (Carolette), Ken Powell (Rhonda), Glenn Powell (Carolinda), and Kevin Powell (Ashlee); 26 great-grands, Kyle, Kody, Erin, Stephanie, Holly, Emily, Adam, Jason, Anna Marie, Rebecca, Jude, Christopher, Hunter, Nicholas, Hailey, Tyler, Brianna, Adrian, Bryson, Josh, Tiffany, Kayla, Diamond, Jada, Megan, and Luke; and 18 great great-grandchildren, Kailee, Sadie, Gabriel, Jade, Kiam, Leia, Hannah, Halle, Timothy, Jay, John Lewis, Bella, Dawson, David, Raina, Lorelie, Rosie, and Darby. She also leaves behind a brother, a sister, Betty Goodwin; a sister-in-law, Geneva Ray, and a large number of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Josh; a son-in-law, Rev. Ronald Jackson; six brothers, Lethen Ray, David Ray, James “JD” Ray, Frank Ray, Don Ray, and Dan Ray; and three sisters, Adra Fulton, Ruth Forbes, and Annie Mae Ray Pugh. A Home Going Celebration will be 2 p.m, Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church directed by McKenzie Funeral Home. The Johnson family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
