JOHN HAPPEL Funeral services for Mrs. John Happel were held Monday, Feb. 2, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran church. The Rev. Martin L. Seltz, pastor of the church, spoke on Psalm 71, 9.17.18, "O God, Forsake Me Not." The hymns were "Abide With Me" and "Asleep in Jesus" sung by Mrs. Fred Porter and Mrs. Richard Hora. Pallbearers were Marvin Moeller, Albert Moeller, Harold Moeller, Clarence Moeller, Harold Grabau, and LaVerne Lutjen, all nephews of the deceased. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Hilda Ihnen and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Murken. Burial was at the St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery in Harrison township. Anna Elizabeth, second child of Adam Moeller and Elizabeth nee Michel, was born Nov. 23, 1879 at Atkins, Benton County, Ia. She was baptized by Pastor Horn in St. Stephen's Lutheran church of Atkins. In 1892 she moved with her family to a farm in Harrison township, Boone county, near the village of Mackey. Here she attended the parish school and was confirmed in 1893 in St. Paul's Lutheran church by Pastor Brandes. On April 27, 1899 she was married to John Happel at St. Paul's church. They first made their home in the village of Mackey until they moved to Watertown, South Dakota, in Oct. 1903. In 1909 they moved to Alberta, Canada, homesteading near Burdette. Some years later they purchased a farm near Foremost in Alberta where they lived until the death of her husband on Oct. 22, 1948. Returning to the United States, she made her home at Boone. She resumed her United States citizenship in May of 1950 and trasferred her membership to Trinity Lutheran church of Boone. After a period of ill health, she died at the Tryon Nursing home on Friday morning, Jan. 30, 1959, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 7 days. Survivors include two brothers, Henry and Adam Moeller, both of Boone, and five sisters, Mrs. Louis (Caroline) Peter of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Chris (Louise) Grabau, and Mrs. Chris (Katherine) Lutjen, both of Boone, Mrs. Mathilda Ehman of Chicago, and Miss Marie Moeller of Boone, and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, John and George Moeller, and two sisters, Anna and a sister, who died in infancy. Out-of-town relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Peters, Linda Peters, Mrs. Arthur Peters, Henry Gerhold, all of Cedar Rapids; Elmer Werning of Newhall; Emma Happel, Al Rathye, Elizabeth Gerhold of Atkins, Ia.; Mrs. Theodore Happel, Paul Happel, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder, all of Latimer, Ia.
