Description	:	Anna Elizabeth, daughter of Leonidas and Nancy Stephenson was born January 23rd 1854 and died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, September 14th, 1933, aged 79 years, 8 months and 21 days. Read More	Anna Elizabeth, daughter of Leonidas and Nancy Stephenson was born January 23rd 1854 and died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, September 14th, 1933, aged 79 years, 8 months and 21 days. Apoplexy, commonly Called a stroke, was the cause of her death. She became seriously ill on Saturday and rallied somewhat at times, but never recovered her power of speech. She had a stroke about two years ago and her health has failed since, at times she was practically helpless, She didn't complain much of pain but was very unhappy on account of being unable to "doll Up" as all her friends know she was a great hand for nice thing?. Her right side was paralyzed when her oldest son was born and she has endured that affliction these years without a murmur. Anna had four sisters and five brothers, and of the ten children only three are left, viz., Roy of Klamath Falls Oregon, Ora of Indianapolis and John of Geneva. Anna graduated with the degree of M. L. A. from Lincoln, Illinois University with the class 1876 and later held first grade teachers certificate in Champaign County. On March 25th, 1880 she and Wiley Buckles of Mt. Pulaski were united in marriage. Of this union, Jessie and Frank died in infancy and Roy of Des Moines, Iowa and Jay of Ruskin survive, also six grandchildren. Mr. Buckles died in 1889 and Anna and her, two sons came to Geneva in the early nineties. She secured homes in the country for her boys and took care of her father and mother until they both went to the other shore. When grandma Stephenson died in 1914, Anna entered the soldiers home at Grand Island and has since made her home there. She made frequent visits to her children and outside friends until the last two years. Wiley Buckles was a member of Company G, 106 Regiment, Illinois Infantry. Anna was very ford of reading and also fond of poetry and always, sent clippings to her son Jay and in her effects are hundreds of poems such as BEYOND TOMORROW There's a Road Beyond Tomorrow Where skies are blue again! There is hope to follow sorrow, Just as sunshine follows rain. And although the rain is falling, And the skies are gray, not blue, On the Road Beyond Tomorrow There are brighter days for you. Author Unknown Interment was made in the Geneva Cemetery. Services were at Geneva at the Congregational Church of which Mrs. Buckles was a member, Rev. Tudor officiating, on Sunday, September 17, at 2:30 p. m. Mrs. Buckles was a member of the Degree of Honor which lodge attended In a body.
