Description	:	STEPHENSON, NANCY--– Nancy Stephenson, wife of Leonidas Stephenson, who died December 5, 1898, departed life August 18, 1914. She was born May 28, 1824, near Lebanon, O. She moved with her parents to Lebanon, Ind., when twelve years of age. Her father died soon after, leaving several hundred acres of wooded land. She married Leonidas Stephenson November 2, 1843, at the age of 19 years. Read More	STEPHENSON, NANCY--– Nancy Stephenson, wife of Leonidas Stephenson, who died December 5, 1898, departed life August 18, 1914. She was born May 28, 1824, near Lebanon, O. She moved with her parents to Lebanon, Ind., when twelve years of age. Her father died soon after, leaving several hundred acres of wooded land. She married Leonidas Stephenson November 2, 1843, at the age of 19 years. Her husband's lot was to clear her portion of the timber and make a home so they experienced much pioneer life with many hardships. Her father was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland. Her maternal grandfather was an English Unitarian minister named Newport, who came to Ohio in an early day. She came from a long-lived family, some living to 98 and 100 years. She was the last of her family and often said she was lonesome here alone. Mrs. Stephenson joined the Methodist church when sixteen years of age and lived a good Christian life. She suffered seven and a half months and knew the end was near and she was willing and ready to go, just waiting for the summons to call her to her heavenly home like a tired child going to rest. She was the mother of ten children: H. W. Stephenson of Franklin, Neb., Lydia Beck of Champaign, Ill., deceased, Laura A., who died when four years old; Amozetta Roberts, wife of G. B. Roberts, who was killed in a wreck at Chillicothe, Mo., July 14, 1890; Mary I. Thompson of Ottawa, Kas.; Anna E. Buckles of Geneva; Roy N. and Charles J. Stephenson, twins, of Portland, Ore.; the latter having died in November, 1913, and Dr. Ora L. Stephenson of Indianapolis, who was called to her bedside in May with her family physician, Dr. George Mozee. She had twenty-three grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great great-grandson. Four sons and two daughters, her grandchildren, relatives besides her neighbors and friends mourn her death. She always appreciated any kindness and favors shown and was willing and ready to return them as far as she was able. Her two daughters and one son were present at the funeral. She has earned a home with her Master whom she served so long and faithfully. The funeral was conducted last Thursday at 3:30 p. m. from the Congregational church, Rev. Thomas Griffiths of Edgar officiating. The interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
