Mr. Stephenson was born in Lebanon county, Indiana, December 18, 1856, the son of Leonides and Nancy Stephenson. Stephenson passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Watmore, east of Geneva Saturday, November 2, 1946, aged 89 years, 10 months and 14 days. Mr. Stephenson was born in Lebanon county, Indiana, December 18, 1856, the son of Leonides and Nancy Stephenson. The family moved to Lawndale, Logan county, Illinois, in 1856 and lived there until 1880, when Mr. Stephenson, moved to Thomasboro, Ill. He was married there September, 26, 1883, to Ellen E. Babb. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Alice Watmore of Geneva, Mrs. Helen Shickley of Dixon, Ill., and a son, Willard, who died at the age of eighteen. Besides his two daughters, Mr. Stephenson is survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The Stephenson family moved to Fillmore county in 1890 and farmed in Chelsea township until 1931, when Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson retired and moved to Geneva. Mrs. Stephenson died October, 14, 1942, and since then Mr. Stephenson had made his home with his daughter. Mr. Stephenson joined the masonic order at the age of twenty-one in 1877, later transferring his membership to the Geneva lodge. Funeral services were held at the Hrubesky funeral home in Geneva at 2 p. m. Tuesday, November 5, Rev. Isaac Cassel officiated. The songs were by Gerard Walton and William Picard, with Mrs. Chauncey Hrubesky at the piano. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery, with the Masonic service at the grave.
