The pastor, the Rev. H. J. Dries, was the colebrunt of the mass. The Rev. Father Trausch of Cedar Falls, Neb., served as deacon, and the Rev. L. Anthofer of Rosell, sub-deacon. The sermon was delivered by the Rev. Father Dries. Burial was in the family lot in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were two grandsons, Arthur Bayer and Alfred Hoffman, and four nephews, Maurice Grossman, Felix Grossman, George Grossman and Louis Grossman. All of Mrs. Gute's children were present at the rites. Mrs. Gute's death, which was caused by heart disease, occured at the St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll at 9:45 Monday morning. She had been in poor health for the past year, and had been at the hospital for a few days before she passed away. Mrs. Gute had lived on the same farm six miles south of Carroll for thirty-nine years. She was born Anna Grossman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Grossman, at St. Lucas, Fayette County, Iowa, Feb. 26, 1871. She came to Carroll County in 1875. Surviving with her husband are seven daughters and two sons: Mrs. Matt Spieker (Mary) Petersburg, Neb.; Mrs. Ben Hackfort (Anna), Willey; Frances, at home; Sister M. Annalica (Elizabeth), Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Rudolph Hoffman (Josephine), Willey; Mrs. John Hoffman (Lucy), Rosettl; Mrs. Raymond Trausch (Cecella), at home, and Lawrence and Frank, of Willey. She also leaves thirty grandchildren; four brothers, John Grossman, Chanute, Okla.; Joseph Grossman, Carroll; Frank Grossman, Dedham; Bernard Grossman, Willey, and one siter, Miss Frances Grossman, Pasadena, Calif. One daughter, Julttia, and one son, Wilfred, preceded her in death. a brother, George, and sister, Mary have also passed away. Mrs. Gute was a member of St. Mary's Church at Willey. She belonged to the Rosary Society of the parish and several other confraternities. ---------------------------------- Anna and Frank Gute were married at the St. Mary's Church at Willey on April 21, 1890.
