Description	:	The Carroll Times, Carroll, Iowa January 29,1920 Mrs. Lawrence Grossman, nee Margaret Messel, died at her home in Willey Friday morning, January 23, after being in poor health ever since an attack of influenza last year, and being seriously sick for twelve days before her death. Mrs. Grossman was born in Kaltembaum, Bavaria, Germany, June 9, 1845. She received her eduation in the old country and came to America in October, 1868. Read More	The Carroll Times, Carroll, Iowa January 29,1920 Mrs. Lawrence Grossman, nee Margaret Messel, died at her home in Willey Friday morning, January 23, after being in poor health ever since an attack of influenza last year, and being seriously sick for twelve days before her death. Mrs. Grossman was born in Kaltembaum, Bavaria, Germany, June 9, 1845. She received her eduation in the old country and came to America in October, 1868. The folwing year she was married at St. Lucas, Iowa, to Mr. Lawrence Grossman. They made their home there for seven years when they came to Carroll county, settling in Pleasant Valley on a Farm. Mrs. Grossman was a splendid woman and home-maker and helped develop the farm and bring her children up as good American citizens. Of the ten children born to Mr. and MRs. Grossman, two died in infancy and those who with their father are left to mourn their mother are: Anna (Mrs. Frank Gute), of Willey, Iowa; John of Canute, Oklahoma; Mary (Mrs. August Gute) of Willey, Iowa; George, of Dedham; Frances, of La Crosta, Texas; Joseph, of Carroll; Frank, of Willey; and Leonard, of Willey. She is also survived by thirty-eitht grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Mary's church, Willey. All the children were present at the funeral with the execption of John, of Canute, Oklahoma,who was unable to come because of the illness of his wife. Others, who attended from a distance were Lawrence Balk and niece, Dorothy, of Wilmont, Minnesota, and Mrs. J. B. Grossman, of Sioux City.
