FREEMAN ZIKE CALLED BY DEATH Mrs. Freeman Zike, nee Josie Fredrickson passed away at her home at Arapahoe, Nebr. last Sunday, following a lingering illness. Her death was due to leukemia. She was born at the farm home near Winnetoon to Henry and Anna Oleson Fredrickson on May 26, 1876 and died on December 29, 1929, at the age of 53 years, 7 months and 3 days. Mrs. Zike left the Winnetoon vicinity in 1903, spending two years in Sheridan, WY. On January 17, 1905 she was united in marriage to Clarence Freeman Zike at Sheridan. This union was blessed with three children, one boy and two girls. After residing at Sheridan for a period of eighteen months, the family removed to Edison, Nebr., then to Arapahoe. They lived in that city for the past twelve years. Mrs. Zike was widely known in this vicinity and particularly in Winnetoon where she was born and reared. Her amiable character endeared her to a number of friends, all of whom unite in extending sincere sympathy to her brothers and sisters who mourn her death. Besides the husband and children Art, Wanda and Wyoma, she is survived by three brothers, George of Winnetoon, Henry of Monroe, CA, Arthur of McLaughlin, S.D. and two sisters, Carrie (James) O'Malley of Hot Springs, S.D. and Lena (A. E.) McDowell of Winnetoon. Her parents preceded her in death a number of years ago. Funeral services were held at Arapahoe on Tuesday from the Methodist Church. A huge crowd of friends gathered to pay their final respects to the deceased. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, which attested to the esteem in which this woman was held by folks where she resided for a great many years. Mr. and Mrs. George Fredrickson and Mrs. A. E. McDowell of Winnetoon attended the last rites of their sister and sister-in-law, returning home Wednesday noon. ...from the Winnetoon Pioneer Newspaper
