Some thirty-three years ago, October 4, 1894, there was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kerschen at St. Mary's, Aleppo, Kan., a baby daughter, whom they christened Anna Katherine at her baptism. She was a beloved child, and as the years come and went she grew to be loved by all about her. Her early years were marked by her love of her parents and faithful execution of their wishes. She was always a ready and hard worker. The grace of God found favorable soil in her heart and took root and blossomed into a good character. She was united in marriage to Nicholas Bausch November 24, 1919. She was a good, faithful wife, and it grieved her much that God did not bless her with children. But her mother heart would not be rested until she became a mother by adoption. Sad, indeed, that our Lord took her from the little angel, who had begun to call her by that sweetest of names mother. However, God knows best, and we bow our heads and say: "His will be done". Such was her constant attitude towards God -- "resignation to His will" -- that when He sent her a fatal illness some five years ago she accepted it willingly and bore it patiently and silently. So silent, indeed, that very few know until recently that she was so sick. Then God saw that she had passed the time of her probation successfully, and, not willing that she should be last to Himself, was pleased to take her home. Wherefore, having been fortified by the last Sacraments, He permitted her to sleep away in the arms of her mother and mother-in-law shortly after the Angelus Saturday evening, July 28. Her funeral was held Tuesday morning, July 31, at St. Mary's, and interment made in St. Mary's cemetery. That she was well thought of was attested to by the large number who attended the funeral. There remains to mourn her loss her husband, Nicholas Bausch, an adopted daughter, her parents, four brothers, John, Peter, Albert and Leonard, and three sisters, Mary, Johanna and Clara. Rest in peace.
