ANNIE PALMQUIST Mrs. Annie Palmquist, widow of the late John Palmquist, died Thursday, September 23, at her home in Stanton. Her death was due to old age, being 81 years and 8 months at the time of her passing. The funeral was held at the Swedish Mission Church in Stanton, Sunday afternoon, and was attended by Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mainquist and family, and Andrew Mainquist of this city. Mrs. Palmquist had been a resident of that vicinity since 1868. She is survived by two daughters, and one son, Mrs. Sam Mainquist of Red Oak, Mrs. John Olander and C. J. Palmquist of Stanton, also by two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Johnson of Shenandoah and Clara Johnson, in Sweden, and by 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren Mrs. Palmquist was a charter member of the Swedish Mission Church in Stanton. She was a good woman and had many devoted friends who extend their sympathy to the family in their bereavement. Red Oak Express, Red Oak, Iowa, Friday, October 1, 1915, page 1 DIED IN STANTON Mrs. Anna Palmquist passed away from this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John S. Olander at nine o'clock. She had attained the ripe old age of 81 years, 8 months, and 29 days, and death was due to complications peculiar to those of her age. For two years she had not been out of the house and the last three weeks she had been bedfast and death came this morning to relieve her suffering. She was quite well known, especially to the older people of the community. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon, 1:00 o'clock at the John S. Olander home and 2:00 o'clock at the Mission Church here, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Isakson. She had been a faithful member of this church in Stanton since its organization. Mrs. Palmquist was born December 25, 1833 at Sandsgo, Sweden, and was married about 1858 to Johannes Magnus Palmquist in her native land. In 1868 they came to America and settled in Illinois where they remained until 1871, when they came to Iowa and to Stanton and settled on a farm north of town. Mr. Palmquist had already preceded her to that better Land, his demise occurring in 1902. She leaves to mourn her loss, three children, Mrs. Sam Mainquist, C. J. Palmquist, and Mrs. John S. Olander, 24 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren, besides her sister, Mrs. Matilda Johnson and oe sister in Sweden and a large number of friends. The body will find its last resting place in the Mission Cemetery beside that of departed husband, to await the final reckoning. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved ones.
