Description	:	With the passing of Mrs. Henry C. Hammerstrom last week, another long-time resident of this community has answered the final summons. Enjoying fairly good health, Mrs. Hammerstrom became ill Saturday, November 26 with a slight attack of the flu. Her condition gradually grew worse and last Wednesday morning was taken to Sioux Valley Hospital. Complications set in and she continued to fail rapidly, passing away at 5:50 am, Thursday morning, December 1, 1955. She attained the age of 75 years, four months and nine days. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon in First English Lutheran Church. Pallbearers were six grandchildren; Luverne, Earl, Alvin, Harold, Dale, and Lloyd Hammerstrom. Mrs. Hammerstrom, nee Anna Lydia Lundgren, was born at Orion, IL on July 11, 1880, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sven Lundgren. There she attended grade school and grew to womanhood. On January 3, 1900 she was united in marriage with Henry C. Hammerstrom, and for ten years they continued to farm in Illinois. Three children were born to this union. The family came to this community on March 1, 1910 and first located on a farm south of Lennox and later moving onto their own farm southwest of town. Mr. and Mrs. Hammerstrom retired from the farm in 1925 and took up their residence in Lennox. With the death of Mrs. Hammerstrom a wedding partnership of over 55 years has come to an end. She was a faithful and active member of the First English Lutheran church; and a charter member of the Ladies Aid, of which she was an officer for over 20 years, and in 1942 received a life membership in the organization. She also held a life membership in the Women's Missionary Federation and was a member of the Women's Relief Corps. Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister and one brother. Deceased is survived by her husband; three sons, Clarence of Davis, Lester of Chancellor, and Edward of Canton; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Swanson and Mrs. Lillie Anderson, both of Orion, IL; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
