Description	:	Lester T. Hammerstrom was born in IL on Oct. 10, 1904, the son of Henry and Lydia (Lundgren) Hammerstrom. At the age of six years he came to the Lennox locality with his parents where he attended rural school and grew to manhood. On Dec. 5, 1923 he was married to Flora Marks at Lennox. Following their marriage they farmed in the Lennox and Chancellor areas. In 1964 they retired and moved into Lennox. She preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1977. Hammerstrom was born in IL on Oct. 10, 1904, the son of Henry and Lydia (Lundgren) Hammerstrom. At the age of six years he came to the Lennox locality with his parents where he attended rural school and grew to manhood. On Dec. 5, 1923 he was married to Flora Marks at Lennox. Following their marriage they farmed in the Lennox and Chancellor areas. In 1964 they retired and moved into Lennox. She preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1977. He was married to Henrietta Sinning on Sep. 12, 1978 at Lennox. They lived in Lennox their entire married life. He had been a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center since Oct. 14, 1986. Les was a member of First English Lutheran Church of Lennox. He had served on the Germantown Township Board and the District #28 School Board for many years. Besides his parents and wife, Flora, he was preceded in death by one son, Dale Hammerstrom, on Jan. 24, 1986; one son-in-law, LuVerne Vietor in 1972; one grandson, Robert Harms in 1976, and one brother, Edward Hammerstrom. Following a lengthy illness, Lester died at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls on Jan. 20, 1987, having attained the age of 82 years, three months and ten days. Surviving are his widow, Henrietta; two sons and their wives, Earl and Mabel Hammerstrom of Wall, SD., and Gene and Velma Hammerstrom of Harrisburg, SD; two daughters, Doris Vietor of Chancellor and Irene Harms and her husband, Bob, of Sioux Falls; his daughter-in-law, Bernice Hammerstrom of Tea; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Clarence Hammerstrom of Lennox.
