Description	:	Anna Mae Clark was born at Alder Grove, a rural community south of Craig, Nebraska on March 2, 1872 to Hiram Goodrich Clark and Elizabeth Whisinnand Clark. She attended Alder Grove School from 1877 to 1888. It took her extra years to complete the 8th grade because she suffered from rheumatic fever, which she nearly died from, for about a year and a half and could not attend school. Read More	Anna Mae Clark was born at Alder Grove, a rural community south of Craig, Nebraska on March 2, 1872 to Hiram Goodrich Clark and Elizabeth Whisinnand Clark. She attended Alder Grove School from 1877 to 1888. It took her extra years to complete the 8th grade because she suffered from rheumatic fever, which she nearly died from, for about a year and a half and could not attend school. She then attended Fremont Normal for one year and began teaching school at Pleasant Hill for one year, east of Alder Grove, and Hewitt School southwest of Alder Grove for one year. Then she taught at Fontanelle, Ne. for a year where she met her future husband, Charles T. Lang who was principal at the school. She then taught one year at South Argo School just west of Alder Grove. Anna Mae Clark and Charles Turner Lang were married on July 26, 1893 at the home of the bride at Alder Grove, Burt County, Nebraska. After her wedding she and her husband taught for 2 or 3 years at Oakdale, Ne. where he was superintendent. From there Anna and Charles briefly lived in Creighton, Ne., Lynch, Ne., Craig, Ne. and Los Angeles, California before her father gave her a farm east of Tekamah, Ne, in 1904. Her husband Charles quickly traded the farm her father gave her for a farm one mile west of Tekamah. Good thing, the farm east of Tekamah eroded into the Missouri river. They lived on this farm from 1904 to 1910. In 1910 Charles and Anna sold their farm by Tekamah and bought the original Clark homestead farm from her brother Duke at Alder Grove near her parents. Anna and Charles lived on this farm from 1910 to 1930. In 1930 they gave the farm to their youngest son Richard and his wife Elizabeth and moved to a farm that they bought in 1918, one mile to the east. They built a home there and lived there until Charles death in 1939 and Anna’s death in 1944. Anna and Charles had four children: A son named Roscoe was born in Creighton, Nebraska in 1897. He tragically died as a child when he fell from a hay loft and was trampled by frightened houses on the farm west of Tekamah in 1909. Twins in 1900 around the time they moved from Lynch, Ne. to Craig, Ne. A twin Girl that died at birth. Burial unknown. Possibly in Lynch, Ne. A twin son named Francis. He lived to adulthood and married Mildred Nelson of York, Ne. whom he met when she came to Alder Grove to teach. They married in 1926 and had a family of two daughters. Francis lived to middle age but died from an infection which developed into “blood poisoning” in 1937. Probably today we would call this leukemia. The fourth child was a son named Richard. He was born in Tekamah in 1904. He married Elizabeth Skinner of Herman, Ne. and they had a family of five children, two girls and three boys. Richard lived until 1972. Anna, and her husband Charles, their first son Roscoe, their second son Francis and his wife Mildred are all buried close to one another in the Tekamah cemetery. Richard and his wife Elizabeth are buried in the Herman cemetery.
