Born March 6, 1914, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Theresa (Lehman) Lindner. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernadette Lindner and Marie A. Yockus; and four brothers, Paul F., John V., James J., and Michael L. Lindner. Sister Madeleine graduated from Saint Patrick's School and Catholic Girls Central High School. EMMITSBURG Sister Madeleine (Anna Margaret) Lindner, D.C., 85, a resident of Villa Saint Michael, Emmitsburg, died Friday, Nov. 12, 1999, at the Villa. Born March 6, 1914, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Theresa (Lehman) Lindner. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Bernadette Lindner and Marie A. Yockus; and four brothers, Paul F., John V., James J., and Michael L. Lindner. Sister Madeleine graduated from Saint Patrick's School and Catholic Girls Central High School. She entered the Daughters of Charity in July of 1933. After completing her preparation, she served as group mother for a home of boys in Saginaw, Mich., for 14 years. In January of 1948, she began a career of 30 years teaching in elementary and high schools. She visited patients at Saint Vincent's Medical Center, Jacksonville, Fla., for three years, after which she was sent back to her home city, Cumberland. She then served in pastoral care at Sacred Heart Hospital from 1982 to 1989. She became a resident of Villa Saint Michael in 1989. Surviving are five sisters, four of whom are also Daughters of Charity, and Loretta L. Lippold, Cumberland; and one brother, Philip E. Lindner, Cumberland. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, and she was laid to rest in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Emmitsburg.
