Almost 99 Years Old and a Crawford County Resident Since the Year 1875. Mrs. Anna Marquardt died last Friday, Aug. 22, at the home of her son William in Denison. She had reached the great age of 98 years, 10 months, and 4 days. She was one of Crawford County's real pioneers, having come here in 1875. Anna Margaretha Marquardt, nee Offt, was born Oct. 18, 1820, at Albertsdorf, Suederdittmarschen, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In 1853 she was united in marriage to Mr. John Henry Marquardt, and two years later they emigrated to America. They first lived at Valparaiso, Ind. In 1875 they came to Crawford County. Mr. Marquardt died May 2, 1903. Two children died in infancy, and left surviving the aged mother are the following children: Henry Marquardt of Denison, Mrs. Margaretha Jepsen of Goodrich Township, William Marquardt of Denison and Mrs. Mary Ullrich of Hanover township, also fifteen (twenty is correct) grandchildren and twenty (fifteen is correct) great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at two o'clock, at the Lutheran church in Denison, Rev. Frese officiating, and interment was made afterward in Morgan township cemetery.
