Description	:	Many friends and relatives were grieved to learn of the death of Peter Henry Marquardt which occurred at his home in this city last Saturday, April 30th. Mr. Marquardt has been ailing in health for more than a year and small hopes were held out for his recovery. Read More	Many friends and relatives were grieved to learn of the death of Peter Henry Marquardt which occurred at his home in this city last Saturday, April 30th. Mr. Marquardt has been ailing in health for more than a year and small hopes were held out for his recovery. The deceased was one of the old settlers of this community and leaves a large host of friends. He was born July 30th, 1855 at Handerau, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. At the age of four he came to this country with his parents, they settling in the city of Valparaiso, Indiana, where the larger portion of his boyhood days was spent. It was also in this city where he obtained his education. In 1875 the Marquardt family came to Crawford county and settled on a farm near this city. In 1885 Mr. Marquardt and Miss Wilhelmine Gehring were united in marriage unto which union ten children were born, three of whom are now deceased. About five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Marquardt left their farm in Otter Creek township and moved to Denison where they have made their home ever since. Since moving to Denison Mr. Marquardt has made many more friends so that he has one of the well known men of this county, being liked and respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his death, his loving wife, one brother, William of this city, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Jepsen of Goodrich twp. and Mrs. Claus Ullrich of Denison. Seven children, Mrs. Anna Hollander of Ida county, Frank of Charter Oak, Mrs. Marie Hollander of Soldier twp, Mrs. Adele Schroeder of Goodrich twp., Henry of Charter Oak and Fred and Ed of Otter Creek twp. Five grandchildren also mourn his death. At the time of his death Henry Marquardt was 65 years and nine months of age. The funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 1PM at the Lutheran Church in this city with the Rev. William Frese officiating. Internment will be made in the cemetery in Morgan township. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family in their loss of a loving husband and father.
