Anna Meents was baptized and confirmed, after due instruction, in the Salem Lutheran Church south of Lawrence. On October 28, 1905, she was united in marriage to George Meents. They observed their 50th. wedding anniversary in 1955, and three years later on February 10, 1958, Mr. Meents passed away following a long illness. Anna Meents was baptized and confirmed, after due instruction, in the Salem Lutheran Church south of Lawrence. On October 28, 1905, she was united in marriage to George Meents. They observed their 50th. wedding anniversary in 1955, and three years later on February 10, 1958, Mr. Meents passed away following a long illness. Mrs. Meents was a long time member of the Oak Creek Presbyterian Church of Rosemont, and was an active and devout member of that congregation. She was one of the helpful Dorcas’ in the women’s work of the congregation. Anna M. Meents was a faithful and dutiful wife. A good mother unto her children, a neighbor known for her kind ways, and a trusted friend. She lived in the Rosemont community most of her long life. About six years ago she left Rosemont to enter a home for senior citizens. For the past two years she has resided at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Henry Stuehrenberg, Mrs. James Crawford, Mrs. Harry Lampman of Blue Hill, and Mrs. Harold Oye of Hastings; two sons Ernest of Hornick, Iowa, and Woodrow of Burlington, Colo. four sisters, Mrs. Maggie Pancer, North Platte, Mrs. Sophia Popp Imperial, Mrs. Harvey Stroh and Mrs. Lena Piel, both of Blue Hill; two brothers, John of Deshler and Albert of Blue Hill; 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, many relatives and friends. A 1:30 prayer service for the family at the Merten-Buttler Funeral Chapel preceded services at the Rosemont Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Nov. 5. The Rev. J.M. Strong officiated. Mrs. Herman Luthereler, organist, and Maurice Hermanson, soloist, furnished the music. Pallbearers were nephews: Victor Alber, Edgar Alber, Chester Alber, Wayne Meents, Robert Meents and Alvin Stroh.
