Description	:	Anna Maria Wolff was the daughter of Friedrich Wolff and Eva Barbara Weber. She was born in Alsace, a majority German-speaking region of the First French Republic. At the time of her birth, France was using a calendar based on the solar year, which they began on the fall equinox. There were 12 months, each with exactly 30 days (12 x 30 = 360), and 5 additional days (6 on leap years) which served as public holidays at the end of the year. Thus, her birth was recorded on the 20th day of the month Thermidor in the 10th year of the Republic, which corresponds to the 8th day of August 1802 in our Gregorian calendar. The name "Thermidor" came from the French word "thermal", derived from the Greek word "thermos" (heat). Most of the months were named in relation to the weather typically experienced in Paris during the corresponding portion of the year. France reverted to the Gregorian calendar a few years later but also began to mandate that French be used in all official documents throughout France. Thus, the records of her 1830 marriage to Adam Höhn and the births of their 8 children were recorded in French, though they continued to speak mostly German in their daily lives. In 1854, Anna Maria and Adam immigrated to the US, sailing from Le Havre to New Orleans aboard the "Manchester", with their 6 surviving children. They arrived May 1 and soon settled in Perry County, Missouri. She died just 5 years later.
