Read More	ESTEEMED ASBURY MATRON SUCCUMBS Mrs. Anna Mariah Riggin Passed Away Sunday Evening FUNERAL SERVICES HELD ON WEDNESDAY Mrs. Anna Mariah Riggin, widow of the late D. Q. Riggin, prominent local seafood dealer who passed away on June 24, 1934, succumbed at her home in the Asbury section on Sunday evening last at about eleven o'clock. Death was the result of pneumonia. Mrs. Riggin, the daughter of the late Hance Aaron Sterling, and Grace Lawson Sterling, who were pioneer residents of the suburban community, aiding in its growth and religious development, lacked but eight days of reaching her seventy-ninth birthday. She was a devout Christian woman and was one of the most active members of Asbury Methodist Church. Very seldom was there a worship service, or any other activity of the church that Mrs. Riggin was not found in her accustomed place at Asbury. Only illness or some other unavoidable circumstance, kept her away from the few services that she was forced to miss. Hers was a charitable nature and she firmly believed in giving her part, and often more, to aid the church in its work. Too, she believed in helping those who were less fortunate than she and made it a practice never to turn away the stranger at her gate. Besides her church, her chief interest centered around her home and her children, to whom she was a wonderful mother. Until a few days before her death she was wonderfully active for her age. She had been ill only three days when claimed by death. She had a host of warm friends who were sincerely grieved at her passing and whose sympathies are extended to the family in their hour of sorrow. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Elmer Nelson and Mrs. Irene Daugherty, of this city, and the former Miss Ethel Riggin, now of California; and two sons, Clarence Riggin and Herman Riggin, both of the suburbs. Also surviving are twenty-six grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Asbury Methodist Church on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the pastor, Rev. J. T. Rowlenson, officiating.
