Anna Marie was born October 25, 1921 at Spalding, NE. to Francis X. and Mary (Haggerty) Diessner. Anna Marie was born October 25, 1921 at Spalding, NE. to Francis X. and Mary (Haggerty) Diessner. Anna was raised on a farm north of Spalding, NE., was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE. and attended rural a rural country school near her home. After the Eighth Grade, Ann went to work for ranchers and thrashers in the Bartlett, NE. area, cooking for the workers. In May of 1942, Anna married Edward Patrick Leonard. She was a homemaker and raised her children while the couple moved frequently around Greeley and Wheeler, NE. counties. Following their divorce in 1964, Ann moved to Genoa, NE. and later to Albion, NE. While living in Albion, NE. she worked as the girls' dormitory matron at Wheeler County School in Bartlett, NE., watching over the girls dorm and cooking school lunches. In 1967, Anna married Burton Kruse at Thedford, NE. They made their home near Akron, NE. where Anna was a homemaker and enjoyed her hobbies of baking, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and entering her products in the Boone County Fair where she won many awards. Ann divorced Burton in 1980, moved to St. Edward, NE. and later to Albion, NE. She began working at the Albion (NE.) Senior Center in 1981 as a cook, making up to 250 meals per day to serve at area senior centers, and continued there for 10 years until a bout with cancer. Following her illness, Ann began working at the Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in the laundry department for 13 years before retiring at the age of 81. Anna was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, NE. and a lifelong member of the VFW Auxiliary, a women's card club that met monthly to play Pitch, and she was a very avid fan of Nebraska Cornhusker Football and Tom Osborne. Anna is survived by: children, James (Darlene) Leonard of Easton, MD. and Karen (Duane) Ranslem of Albion, NE.; grandchildren: Timothy Leonard of Glenvil, NE., Mark (Christine) Leonard of Hastings, NE., Paul (Kristine) Ranslem of Kersey, CO., Chad (Heather) Ranslem of David City, NE., Shawna Ranslem of Randolph, NE., Jessica (Paul) Sueper of Lincoln, NE., Crystal Ranslem of College Station, TX. and Richard Anderson of Camp Merrill, NE.; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward (Gladys) Diessner of Albion, NE. and Michael (Wanda) Diessner of Arizona. Ann was preceded in death by: parents, daughter, Sharon Anderson in 2010; grandson, Jeremy Anderson in 1997 and brother, Richard Diessner. Interment was in the St. Michael's Cemetery, Spalding, NE.
