Grant, Mar. 12—Funeral services were held Wednesday, Mar. 7, at 3:30 p.m., at the Methodist church in Grant for Mrs. Anna Corbin, 80, who died Monday, Mar. 4, at her home in Grant. She had not been well since being knocked down by a car on highway 71 on election day last November. In charge of the services were Rev. A. Breeling and Rev. K. J. Bressler. Pallbearers were D. T. Chalmer, Leslie Embree, Donald Brown, Fred Davis, Geo. Davis, Geo. Mennealy, Earl Spiker and Merrill Foote. Honorary bearers were O. L. Zappe, Charles Ruhl, Geo. Stinemates, A. C. Stinemates, Ed Brown, Earl Courcier and N. H. Jones. Music was by Miss Helen Blackburn and Mrs. Duane Redmon, vocalist, and Mrs. Earl Spiker, pianist. On the floral committee were Mrs. Fred Davis, Mrs. Geo. Davis, Mrs. Geo. Mennealy and Mrs. Chas. Ruhl. Burial was in Grant cemetery. Anna Matilda Hunt, daughter of Simon and Sarah Caywood Hunt, was born in Grant May 31, 1870. She taught school in Montgomery county for many years and had lived her life out in this community. She was married March 16, 1892, to William R. Corbin, who preceded her in death in 1938. Survivors include two sons, Fay Corbin of Grant, and Jay Corbin of Red Oak. A sister, Mrs. O. S. Donoho, survives, and there are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Corbin was active in church and club work in Grant. She had long been a member of the Methodist church and was a 25-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Those coming from a distance for the funeral of Mrs. Anna Corgin [sic] were Mr. and Mrs. Emory Hunt of Hiawatha, Kas.; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hunt, Lincoln, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Caywood, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar E. Caywood and Mrs. Clarence Costan, Skidmore, Mo.; and Mrs. Rollie Cumming, Falls City, Neb.; Mrs. Cora Hunt and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Harper of Creston. Contributor: Russ C (46877662)
