To this union were born seven children, Mrs. Lillie Scoggin of Boulder Colo., Alonzo of Falls City Neb., Eubert of Guthrie Okla., Mrs. Lottie Donoho, Lincoln, George of Forest City Mo., and Mrs. Anna Corbin all of whom were present at the funeral Besides his wife and seven children the deceased leaves 13 grand children and one great grand-daughter to mourn his departure. This is the first visit of the death angel to this family The deceased was a soldier, member of Co 6 [sic], 13th Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Infantry. A charter member of Dick Rout Post, Grand Army of the Republic of this place. Mr. and Mrs. Hunt came to this township, August 28, 1856 They escaped not the trials and privations incident to a pioneer’s life. The experiences of the frontier life, its inconveniences cannot be understood by us of a later generation. The deceased is the third one of the early pioneers to pass beyond the confirmes [sic] of Time since December 9 last. “There is a Reaper and his name is Death.”
