Eight identified children: John Frank, Anna Belle, Etta N., Harry R (twin), Hugh C (twin), Herbert S, Alice (Allie) Patience, and Robert Rollins Sands. Daughter Etta N Sands (1879-1964) married Preston Clair Duncan in 1904 and they settled in Sheridan, WY. This contributor searched the Fairfield Library microfilm newspaper collection and finally located the source: Jefferson County Republican February 27, 1903 Pg. 8 Col. 4 "Another Home Made Desolute It is with deep regret that we are called upon to announce the death of Mrs. Robert SANDS. Mrs. Anna SANDS was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel BOOKER. She was born in Ohio and came at an early age to this county, making her home on the farm near Beckwith, which after her marriage continued to be her home until her death. Some six months ago she had an operation performed for a cancer which did not result as successfully as was wished for. She was brought to the home of her mother, Mrs. BOOKER, in Fairfield, where it was hoped that the medical fraternity could give her better attention, but all to no avail. The best specialists were puzzled, and God only knows how she endured her sufferings. She always tried to be cheerful even when she knew there was no hope. Five weeks before her death she plead with her husband and children not to mourn for her as death would be a relief. Mrs. SANDS was a refined and an estimable lady. Her intimate neighbors whom she has now gone to be with were such as Mary CLOVER, Mrs. FAWCETT, and Mrs. Lewis VAN NOSTRAND. In the home circle and among her most intimate friends the beauty and charm of her life were known. But with her retiring delicacy and refinement she exercised a controlling influence over those most near her. Her children were her jewels and are the monument to her memory. The oldest son, Frank, died when a babe. Bell and Etta, Hugh and Harry and Robbie, the youngest, aged 11, are left, while Allie and Herbert died two years ago (sic. they died in 1891) with diptheria. While Mrs. SANDS bore up heroically when she was forced to give up her two little darlings in less than a week, the loss of such a mother is to them unspeakable, but the great blow falls upon the husband and her aged mother. Mrs. SANDS was not a member of any church, but the Presbyterian was her choice. The services being in charge of that denomination were held at the home of her mother, Mrs. BOOKER, Friday, Feb. 20th. 1903, and the remains were laid to rest beside her loved ones in the Evergreen cemetery. Deceased was about 50 years of age. J.L.R.P."
