Read More	Kitsap Sun - December 8, 2004 Anna Pearl Axelson July 20, 1909 Dec. 5, 2004 Anna Pearl Axelson, 95, a resident of Bremerton and Silverdale for 63 years, died in her sleep Sunday at Crista Shores in Silverdale. She was born to Christian and Augusta Steiner in Pateros, Wash., where her father had purchased the townsite and developed the irrigation system. She graduated from Everett High School, Seattle Pacific College and received a master's degree in education from the University of Washington. On June 4, 1936, she married Amsden Axelson. Mrs. Axelson was known for her delight in junior high students, her family, painting, flower arranging, letter writing, sewing, knitting and hospitality. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bremerton (now Lincoln Avenue Bible Church), starting and directing the church's youth camping program in the 1950s. After her retirement from teaching history and English at Dewey Junior High School in East Bremerton, she wintered with her husband in California, golfed and honed her oil and acrylic painting skills. In 1984, the Axelsons were among the first residents of Crista Shores Retirement Center where she lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years; her parents and two brothers, Harold and Leonard Steiner. Surviving are a son, Philip Axelson and his wife, Jonna Beth, of Barrington, R.I.; a daughter, Myrna Anderson and her husband, Steve, of Bremerton; a sister, Opal Muller of Walnut Creek, Calif.; a brother, Bob Steiner of Seattle; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church. A family graveside committal will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. N in Seattle/(206) 362-5200.
