Read More	KEYSTONE WOMAN KILLED APRIL 13 BY STREAMLINER Mrs. Anna Oehlerich Killed Instantly on Milwaukee Tracks Mrs. Anna Oehlerich, pioneer mother, met a tragic death here on Wednesday, April 13, when she was instantly killed when she became confused and ran directly into the path of the Milwaukee railroad Streamliner the Hiawatha. Mrs. Oehlerich had been visiting with a neighbor who lives on the south side of the tracks here on the state highway and was returning to her home on the north side where lives with her son, Harry. The train sounded its warning whistle and the electric warning lights at the crossing were flashing but instead of stopping Mrs. Oehlerich became confused and hurried onto the tracks. Her son, William Oehlerich was driving a car behind her and said he was going to honk to warn her, but feared it might startle her and cause her to do exactly what she did. The tragedy was also witnessed by the station agent, J M. Elsner, and her granddaughter, Ruth Oehlerich. Mr. Elsner reported the accident at 4:35 p.m. County Coroner John R. Burrows said the Hiawatha which was east bound from Omaha to Chicago, stopped and backed up. It was believed the train was traveling between 65 and 70 miles an hour. Anna Oehlerich was born Jan. 30, 1876, daughter of Hans and Anna Popp in Schleswig Holstein, Germany. She was married to Claus Oehlerich in 1897. The couple came to America in 1903 and settled in Homer township on a farm near Keystone. They retired and to Keystone in 1913. Mr. Oehlerich died in 1934. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Anna Selken of La Porte City, Mrs. Christine Fay of Vinton, Mrs. Hilda Reinberg of Garrison and three sons, Chris, William and Harry of Keystone. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A son Johannes and a daughter, Mrs. Clara Pohlman preceded her in death. Funeral services were to be held on Friday but due to the weather conditions were held from the Ayres funeral home Saturday afternoon at 1:30 with the Rev. P. W. Pfaltzgraff of Van Horne officiating. Burial was in the Keystone cemetery. Casketbearers were Willie Selken, Morris Fay, Raymond Selken, Fred Reinberg, Louis Pohlman and William Bottema.
