Description	:	Anna Mandaleck Roepke was born on Feb. 5, 1889 at Coal City, Ill. to Stephen Mandaleck and Mary Lang Mandaleck. She was baptised in infancy and spent her younger years with her grandmother and an aunt. She attended rural school near Maynard and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Maynard. Read More	Anna Mandaleck Roepke was born on Feb. 5, 1889 at Coal City, Ill. to Stephen Mandaleck and Mary Lang Mandaleck. She was baptised in infancy and spent her younger years with her grandmother and an aunt. She attended rural school near Maynard and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Maynard. Before her marriage she worked in Oelwein. On Nov. 18, 1915, she married Gustav Roepke in Oelwein. They had seven children. Most of their married years were spent in farming near Aurora. After her husband's death in 1960, Mrs. Roepke moved to the Jones Custodial Home in Lamont. Her last six months were spent in the L.M.N. Nursing home in Hazleton. On Sunday, March 14, she was taken to Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, where she died in the early hours of Monday morning, at the age of 76 years, one month and nine days. She was preceded in death by her husband and two of her children, Edward and Erna, three grandchildren, Gustav, Jean Ann and Susan Roepke. She is survived by five sons; Walter of Winthrop, Carl of Independence, Albert and Leonard of Aurora, and Frank of Tuscon, Ariz.; two brothers, Martin and Frank Mandaleck of Follett, Tex; three sisters, Katie Hollman of Enid, Okla., Clara Soderberg, Los Vegas, Nev.; and Emma Milzer, Follett, Tex. In addition, she is survived by an uncle, Carl Lang at Spokane, Wash., 20 grandchildren, one great grandchild, relatives and friends. For the past 45 years she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aurora where for many years she was an active member of the Woman's organization of the church.
