The children are the little son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Roepke, the father being a brother of Mrs. A. T. Maillie and W. E. Roepke of this city. While not definately known just how the accident occurred, it is thought the children either went into the water to swim or that the girl slipped into the creek and the boy tried to save her, being unable to swim they both went down in about seven feet of water. The theory that they might have tried to swim in the creek was strengthened by the fact that some of their clothing was found on the creek bank, although other children who were with them at the time state that Erna slipped into the creek when the bank caved in and Edward jumped in to save her. The funeral will be held at the home near Aurora at 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church in Aurora. (Article in the Oelwein Daily Register, Aug 30, 1926, page 4)
