Erb was born in Lancaster county, Pa., June 18, 1867. Died of diabetes and heart failure at Elkhart, Ind, July 10, 1924. Aged 57 years 22 days. When she was 17 years old her parents with their family, the late Jacob B. Erb, moved to Harvey county, Kansas, settling on a farm two and a half miles northwest of Newton. She was married to Christian Reiff September 24, 1889. To this union nine children were born. Vernon now living at Elkhart, Ind., Jacob at Berkley, Calif., Mary married to Miles at Newton, Kansas, Tillman at Newton, Susie married to Rufus P. Horst at Kansas City, Irvin and David at Chicago, Ill., and Nathan at home. One daughter died in infancy. During the time of their married life, they lived in Harvey county, Kansas except 4 years at Newkirk, Okla. About 15 months ago they started on an extended trip to the east. Visited in several states as far as Pennsylvania, then south to Miami, Florida where they spent 9 months. On June 30th they returned to Elkhart, Ind., where they purchased a home intending to settle there. After fixing and straightening up the home, the disease before mentioned took hold upon her, so that after six days living in their new home she passed away to be with her Savior. Those surviving her besides the children are husband and aged mother known as "Grandma Erb" one brother T. M. Erb of Hesston, Kans., two sisters, Mrs Mary Erb of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Susie Swim of Newton, eight grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends She was converted soon after she was married and united with the Mennonite church in 1890. in which faith she died. She was resigned to God's will and said a few hours before passing away the "She had finished her course and kept the faith" and was ready to meet Jesus "Face to Face". The family with the body arrived at Newton on Saturday; afternoon. The funeral was held at the Mennonite church near Zimmerdale on Monday afternoon, where a large congregation met to pay the last tributes of respect. All the children were present, the six sons serving as pallbearers. The services were conducted by Bishop D. A. Yoder of Elkhart, Ind. assisted by M. C. Lehman of Dhamtari India. Mr.Lehman a missionary who is on furlough, happening to be in the community. The sermon was based on 11 Tim. 4:7, 8 selected by the deceased a short time before she passed. The sermon was based on II Tim. 4:7,8, which was selected by the deceased a few hours before passed away. All the children were present at the funeral, the six sons serving as pall bearers. ANNIE REIFF Mrs. Annie Reiff, wife of Christian Reiff, died at 7 o’clock last night at their home on Hively avenue just south of the city, following a long illness due to nephritis. Although she had been ailing for some time her condition did not take a critical turn until a week ago. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the home of a son, Vernon E. Reiff, treasurer of the Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, at 1711 Prairie street. Rev. J. S. Hartzler, pastor of the Prairie Street Mennonite church, officiated. The body will be taken to Newton. Kas., where further services and interment will take place. The funeral party was to leave on a late afternoon train. Mrs. Reiff was born in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, on June 18, 1867, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Erb. She and her husband and youngest son came to Elkhart from Miami. Fla., to reside, three weeks ago. Prior to their residence in Florida they lived at Newton. Eight Children survive--Vernon E. Reiff of Elkhart, Jacob Reiff of Berkeley, Calif., Tillman Reiff and Mrs. Mary Troyer of Newton, Mrs. Susie Horst of Kansas City, Kas., Irvin C. Reiff and David L. Reiff of Chicago and Nathan E. Reiff, who lives at home. There also survive eight grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Leah Erb of Hesston, Kas.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Eby of Miami and Mrs. Susie Swim of Newton, and brother, T. M.
