Read More	Two Sisters Buried Here This Week Slater News-Rustler, Thursday, December 13, 1956 [Items added to further clarify the record, by Stephen Jaeger, great grandson of Blanche Crane.] Mrs. Blanche Crane Died Here Tuesday, and Mrs. Horace Stipes Died in California Two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Crane and Mrs. Horace Stipes of San Bernardino, California, both of whom were born and reared in this community, were buried here the first part of this week. Mrs. Stipes, the former Annie Mae Crane was born May 4, 1875, and departed this life last Thursday, December 6th, in San Bernardino, California, where she made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Osborne. Mrs. Stipes grew to womanhood in the Slater community and was united in marriage to Horace Stipes in [June 10], 1893. To this union, two daughters were born, both of whom survive. Her husband preceded her in death in August [29], 1941. [A son, Richard Horace and daughter, Sallie Mae both died as children under 3 years old]. Mr. Stipes was for some time employed as locomotive fireman on the Alton railroad in Slater, and later they moved to Mexico, Missouri, and then to Kansas City, where he was employed by the railroad. Her husband had been retired a number of years prior to his death. The body of Mrs. Stipes was brought to Slater, Monday morning of this week and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Hill Brothers Funeral Home at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. Frank Stever, pastor of the Methodist Church, and burial was made in the Slater City Cemetery. Mrs Stipes had united with the Methodist Church in Mexico, Missouri, many years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs Lillian Osborne, of San Bernardino, California, and Mrs. Rena Sogn, of Los Angeles, California, two grand-daughters and other relatives and friends. Both of the daughters accompanied the body to Slater for the funeral services. Tuesday morning [December 11, 1956] of this week, Mrs. Stipe's sister, Mrs. Blanche Crane, 80, was found dead in her bed at the Jarvis Convalescent Home, where she had made her home for the past several months. Mrs. Crane had been bedfast for some time past, having sustained a broken hip in a fall. Mrs. Crane was born [August 11. 1876,] and reared in the Slater community. She was the daughter of Oscar and Sophia Crane, and for many years past she had made her home with a son, Lowell Crane, who survives, in addition to a number of other relatives, [ four grand-children], and many old-time friends. Funeral services, conduced by Rev. Frank Stever were held at the Methodist Church in Slater, this Wednesday, December 12, at 2:00 o'clock and burial was made in the Slater City Cemetery. [Both women were preceded in death by their parents, a brother Joseph, and two sisters, Miss Grace "Tippa" Crane, and Mrs. Frank (Catherine) Birch.]
