Rickie D. Steven R. Obituary Winston-Salem Journal 12/22/2003 ********************************************* Mrs. Annie Ruth Beamer Simmons, 81, of Mount Airy, widow of Mr. Robert G. Simmons Jr., passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Surry Community Nursing Center. Mrs. Simmons was born May 4, 1922, in Surry County to Charles and Vissie Stanley Beamer. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a member of Dover Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Brenda Simpson of Kannapolis and Bobbie and Paul Hummel of Vernon, N.Y.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dickie "D.J." and Susan Simmons of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Dwight Matthews of Boonville. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by two sons, Rickie D. Simmons and Steven R. Simmons; a great-grandson, Rickie Simmons Jr.; and three sisters, Gypsy Dumas, Frances Priddy and Margaret Kerns. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Surry Community Nursing Center, Twelve Oaks Retirement and Hospice of Surry County for the great love and care given to Mrs. Simmons.
