Carlson officiating. Carsons were in charge of arrangements. Burial was made in the Dayton Cemetery. Mr. Burke died at Longmont, Colorado at the age of 88 years. His wife preceded him in death. Mrs. Everett Swanson sang two songs, "There Is A Land That Is Fairer Than Day," and "Abide With Me." She was accompanied by Mrs. R.E. Carlson. Casket bearers were Algot Nordstrom, Glen Nordstrom, Raymond Eklund, Vern Eklund, Ray Gabrielson and Lester Gabrielson. Mr. Burke was in the Hardware business in Dayton years ago. He was a former partner of the late Carl Jacobson in the Implement business also. Later, Mr. Burke and his son Clemens owned and operated the John Deere Implement business in Humboldt. Mr. Burke was well known, loved and respected by all those who remembered him. OBITUARY A. ADELBERT BURKE A. Adelbert Burke was born in Geneseo, Henry County, Ill., on February 22, 1871. At the age of 7 he moved with his family to Stanton, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. As a young man he came to the Dayton community where he lived for a number of years. On Dec. 18, 1895, he was united in marriage with Miss Nellie Eklund, of Dayton, by Pastor J.A. Christenson. To this union one son and one daughter were born, both of whom survive their father today. The Burke family home was at Dayton, Alden, Story City, Randall and Humboldt, Iowa, where Mr. Burke was engaged in farming, grain elevator, hardware and implement business. After retiring from business Mr. and Mrs. Burke lived at Riverside, Calif., for five years. They later returned to Humboldt, Iowa, where Mrs. Burke passed away in 1954. Since that time Mr. Burke has lived at Longmont, Colorado, where he passed away last Tuesday, Apr. 7, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 15 days. He had enjoyed good physical health, despite his advanced age, and was bedfast only a short while before his passing. Mr. Burke was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church. He affiliated with this congregation on Feb. 7, 1896. At the time of his passing he was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Longmont, where funeral services were held on Wednesday. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Irene Brehm, of Hinton, Ia., a son Clarence D. Burke, of Longmont, Colo., 4 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Peace be to the memory of Adelbert Burke!
