The death of Anton Digman occurred Thursday morning at St. Francis home of the aged where he had been an inmate for about twelve years. he was born in Heuthen, Saxony, Dec. 10, 1933, and came to America in 1850. He lived for a time at Sinsinawa Mound, Wis., where he married Margaretta Digman. They then moved to Dyersville, Ia., where they lived on a farm. The death of Anton Digman occurred Thursday morning at St. Francis home of the aged where he had been an inmate for about twelve years. he was born in Heuthen, Saxony, Dec. 10, 1933, and came to America in 1850. He lived for a time at Sinsinawa Mound, Wis., where he married Margaretta Digman. They then moved to Dyersville, Ia., where they lived on a farm. In 1877 he retired from active work moving into the town. After the death of his wife in 1904 he came to the St. Francis home here. The remains will be taken to Dyersville Friday afternoon and the funeral will be held there Saturday morning at 9:30 from St. Frncis church to the Catholic cemetery. The following information is from Rev. Arthur A. Halbach, Dyersiville: Its History and Its People (St. Joseph Press, Milwaukee, Wis., 1939), P. 367. Mr. and Mrs. Digmann adopted two children, a boy, William Crowder, and a girl, Alice, now Mrs. Charles Kolf of Dubuque. Both Mr. and Mrs Digmann were known and beloved for their boundless charity and sincere sympathy toward their fellow men, especially those in trouble or need. They donated a part of the site of Xavier High School, a gift valued at $2,000. Mr. Digmann also gave to the church a statue of St Anthony which now stands in the sanctuary. he gave a scholarship to his home parish in Heuthen, Germany.
