Description	:	Services for Anton (Tony) Ehnes, 85, a McLaughlin area retired farmer, will be held Tuesday at 10:30am at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, McLaughlin. Burial will be in McLaughlin Cemetery with military rites by the McLaughlin American Legion Post No. 121. The Rev. Joachim Schieber and the Rev. Joel McLaughlin will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Larson’s Funeral Home, Faulkton. Mr. Ehnes died Friday at the Mobridge Care Center. When he was six months old he came with his family by ship to the United States, landing in New York, NY. The family worked their way west and homesteaded west of Roscoe. In 1900 the family moved to Canada where they lived until 1915 when they moved to Montana. In 1917 they moved back to their original homestead near Roscoe. Mr. Ehnes enlisted in the Army in 1918, serving in World War I before being discharged in 1919. He returned to Roscoe after his discharge and on Jan 10, 1922, he married Regina Feist at Strasburg, ND. The couple made their home in various places in the Roscoe area before moving to McLaughlin in 1925. In 1937 Mrs. Ehnes died. On Feb 5, 1945 he married Hanna Stoecker at McLaughlin. The made their home on their farm until moving to McLaughlin in 1963. They retired from farming in 1965. He was a member of the McLaughlin American Legion Post No. 121 and St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of McLaughlin; three sons, John Ehnes of McLaughlin; Clarence Ehnes, Gregory; and Larry Ehnes, Lead; one step-son, Allan Stoecker, Oakland, CA; two daughters, Eva Boylan, Sacramento, CA, and Florence Baldaramos, Oakland, CA; two step-daughters, Bernice Feist of Oakland, CA and Verna Ehnes, McLaughlin; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Simon, Roscoe; Roy, of Ipswich, and Matt, of Great Falls, MT; five sisters, Maggie Meier, Ipswich; Margaret Reinbold, San Diego, CA; Barbara Volt, Oakland, CA; Katheryn Bitz, Portland, OR, and Alice Roth, Aberdeen. He is preceded in death by his first wife, one son, one step-son, and three brothers. Casket bearers will be his grandsons, Shawn Ehnes, Gary Ehnes, Keith Ehnes, Kevin Ehnes, Marty Ehnes and Kyle Ehnes. Mass servers will be Jay Schmidt and Jeff Rath. John Singer will be the usher and Mrs. Jack Hazel will be the organist.
