Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 9 March 1927 John Ehnes Killed By Tractor John Ehnes, of near Highwood, was killed when a tractor driven by hims tipped over backwards killing him instantly. John and Nick Ehnes came to Fort Benton on last Friday and returned with a second hand Fordson tractor, which they had purchased here some time ago. John Ehnes drove the tractor home late in the evening, stopping at the home of A. I. Crone for supper where his brother Nick later joined him. While there Martin Jensen came to the Crone home for a team to pull his automobile out of a mud hole. No team being available an an attempt was made to pull the car out with a truck, which failed. The men returned to the Crone ranch home and John Ehnes volunteered to take the tractor and pull the car out. Upon arriving where the car was in the mud hole, the hitch on the tractor was made over the axle housing. An attempt was made to pull the car out in second gear but it was too much for the tractor and John shifted into low gear and started and the tractor immediately reared up in front and tipped over pinning him underneath, which crushed him and caused immediate death. The brother attempted to lift the heavy machine but had to go for help and later help had to be secured from Highwood. The body was brought to Fort Benton and prepared for burial. The young man had resided with his brother in the Highwood country for the past two years. He recently returned from attending a tractor school in Los Angeles. He is survived by his mother and father who reside at Roscoe, S. D.; five sisters and six brothers. He was born March 19th, 1902, at Roscoe, S. D. High mass will be celebrated at the Catholic church on Thursday and funeral services conducted at 11 o'clock by Rev. Fr. Finucane, and burial will be in Riverside cemetery. --- 16 March 1927 Mrs. Ehnes and son, Tony Ehnes, of Roscoe, South Dakota, arrived last Wednesday morning called here by the death of their son and brother, John Ehnes. They returned to their home on Friday morning.
