Read More	Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), August 7, 1947, p. 4, col. 5 BRUNO MAN PASSED AWAY ON JULY 25 Bruno, Aug. 5 – Anton Vaclav Polacek, died in St. Joseph's hospital, Omaha, at 10:20 a.m. July 25, after an illness of six months, the last 23 days of which were spent at the hospital. His age was 63 years, seven days. The youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Polacek, he was born on a farm near Abie, and it was there he spent his boyhood. On November 18, 1907, his marriage to Miss Anna Pokorny was solemnized at the Appleton Catholic church. For 27 years they farmed near Bruno, their farm now being occupied by their son, Louis and family. They were the parents of one son, Louis A., and two daughters, Mrs. James L. (Alyce) Proskovec, and Miss Helen, who, with their mother, mourn his passing. Four grandchildren, Mary Lou, Louis, and Carol Polacek and David Anthony Proskovec, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Palensky of Crete, N.D., Mrs. Emma Dolezal, Bruno, and Mrs. Barbara Kouma, Dwight, also survive. Three brothers preceded him in death – John, 16 years ago; James, two years ago, and Frank, one year ago. Mr. and Mrs. Polacek retired from farm-life in 1934, and moved to Bruno, where Mr. Polacek continued his active, helpful, useful life almost to the end of his numbered days. He served on the village board for eight years, where his practical judgment was respected. He was a conscientious man, with a keen mind, that brought him success. Possessed of a cheerful disposition, he was a kind and considerate husband and father, devoted to the welfare of his family. He had many friends, attested to by the large number who came to pay their last respects and attend his funeral. The funeral services were held from the homoe Monday morning, July 28, to St. Anthony's church where Requiem High Mass was offered at 9 o'clock by Rev. Charles F. Rada, who also conducted the burial rites at St. Anthony's cemetery. The pallbearers were J. L. Chladek, A. J. Cuhel, John Polacek, E. L. Spatz, J. L. Spatz ,and Louis Voboril. Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral were Mrs. Jacob Palensky, Sr., and son of Crete, N.D., Mr. and Mrs. Anton Proskovec and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Proskovec of Omaha. __ p. 8, col. 2 Card of Thanks – We wish to thank all those who came to visit, had Masses said for his recovery, and for the cards sent during the illness of our husband and father. Also, our sincere thanks are extended for the spiritual bouquets, floral offerings, cards and words of comfort and for any assistance given us at the time of his death.
