'''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), February 22, 1945, p. 8, col. 2 JAMES POLACEK DEATH WAS LONG TIME RESIDENT Had Resided in Bruno and Vicinity Seventy-One Years Bruno, Feb. 19 – Funeral services for James Polacek, who died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday morning, Feb. 11, at his home where he lived alone, were held Tuesday morning, Feb. 13, from the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Anton V. Polacek, in Bruno to St. Anthony's church at 10 o'clock. The requiem low mass was offered by the Rev. Charles F. Rada. Interment was in St. Anthony's cemetery. The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Jacob Palensky, Anton Polacek, Jr., James Polacek, Louis A. Polacek, John Kouma and James Kouma. Mr. Polacek died three days before reaching his 79th birthday anniversary. He was born February 14, 1866, at Caslav, Czecho-Slovakia, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vaclav Polacek. In 1874, when James was eight years old, his parents emigrated to the United states and Butler county, locating on a farm in Bruno vicinity where James lived 23 years. He then moved to his own farm near Bruno where he spent 28 years before retiring and moving to Bruno whee he has lived the past 20 years. Mr. Polacek never married. He is survived by two brothers, Frank and Anton V. of Bruno, and three sisters, Mrs. Jacob Palensky of Crete, N.D., Mrs. Barbara Kouma of Dwight and Mrs. Emma Dolezal of Bruno. One brother, John of Brainard, preceded him in death 14 years ago. Mr. Polacek was an independent, quiet hard working man. Though suffering much ill health in years past, he bore his burden without complaint. __ Card of Thanks – We wish to express sincere thanks to all who in any way assisted at the time of death and at the funeral of James Polacek, also for the flowers and spiritual boquets.
