On April 18, 1926, Antonette and her twin brother, Anthony, were the 9th and 10th blessings of Anne and Nicholas Marko’s twelve children were part of a farm family in Tway, Saskatchewan. At the young age of 16, Antonette left home and pursued work as a nanny. Robert and Antonette met each other while on a family vacation. Married at Elmdale Lutheran Church on December 3, 1950, this was the same church that baptized their five children, Geraldine, Rodger, Sharon, Linda and Candace. To provide for the family, they farmed and moved to where there was work. Leaving many friends and relatives, they settled in Seattle, Washington in 1967. Anonette “Toni” took love and pride in whatever she did. She was proud to become a U.S. citizen. Her childlike spirit drew her to be a nanny for many other families over the years. A grandmother to nine children and great grandmother to thirteen, she always took loving care of others. On April 15, 2008, the Lord took Antonette to His heavenly home. She will always be remembered as strong, nurturing and hard-working. Antonette Jessen will be laid to rest near her family in the Lakeview Cemetery of Kenmare. Antonette was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Pete and sisters Nellie and Mary. She is survived by her husband Robert, Auburn, WA; daughter Geraldine (Jon Schmidt), their three children and three grandchildren, Auburn, WA; son Rodger (Marlene) Jessen, their three children and three grandchildren, Issaquah, WA; daughter Sharon (Bob Connole) Bonney Lake, WA; daughter Linda Dudley (Jon Green) her three children and seven grandchildren; Ronan, MT; daughter Candace Jessen, Tacoma, WA; sisters: Sophie Schenstead, Anne Karasiuk, Pauline Cummings, Olga Hrycui, Gloria Connolly; brothers, John, Evan and Anthony living across Canada; sister-in-laws, Lorraine Johnson, Marilyn Smith and Janette Durham, all North Dakota girls; and too many nieces and nephews to list.
