Born in Lynchburg, Va., he was a son of the late Archibald Haley Sr. and Irene Berkley Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of the Renouard Training School for Embalmers in New York. He was a retired funeral director having owned and operated a funeral home in Charlottesville, Va., and was a funeral director with The Howze Mortuary. He was a member of Charlottesville Masonic Lodge 60, Acca Shrine Temple in Richmond, Va., and Hinton Avenue Methodist Church in Charlottesville. He is survived by his wife Edna Guest Hawkins of the home; a son, Archibald Haley Hawkins III and wife Sandi of Charlottesville, Va; a daughter, Garnett Hawkins McDonald, Kokomo; a step-daughter, Terry Jo Guest, Travelers Rest, S.C.; sisters, Mrs. Edward (Mae) Gregory, Atlanta, and Mrs. James (Sarah) Hewlett, Lynchburg, Va.; brother, William Thomas Hawkins, Lynchburg, S.C.; four grandchildren, Chris and Brian Hawkins, Kyle and Stephanie McDonald; and two step-grandchildren, Ben and T.C. Tate. Mr. Hawkins was predeceased by his first wife, Ruby Bartlett Hawkins; a brother, Robert Earl Hawkins; and a sister, Mrs. Byron (Helen) Olson. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg, Va. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at The Howze Mortuary in Travelers Rest, S.C.
