Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Burke, SD. Archie was born on May 1st, 1924 in Correctionville, IA to Frank and Willa (Therien) Lyon of Correctionville, Iowa. He was a lifelong beekeeper in the business his father began in the 1930's near Anthon, IA. After being in partnership with his brother, Charlie, Archie went into business with his two sons, Randy and Ron Lyon, throughout the rest of his working life. Their business expanded in South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and Texas. Archie loved being a beekeeper and will be remembered for his strong work ethic and great knowledge of the industry. He also will be remembered for his funny sense of humor. Archie married his wife of 60 years, Neola Bennett, on November 10, 1945 in Anthon, Iowa. To this union, three children were born. Archie is survived by his wife, Neola, a son, Ron Lyon of Spring Valley, MN, a daughter, Lynn and her husband Håkan Fransson, of Raleigh, NC; six grandchildren; Carmen Hutchison, Craig Lyon, Jody Albertson, Jenny Lyon, Evan and Calvin Fransson; six great-grandchildren; Tayler and Gabriel Hutchison, Cassidy, Turner and Jonah Albertson and Isabella Lyon; one brother, Frank Lyon of Kansas City, Missouri and one sister, Annie and her husband Claire Wulff of Mineola, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Leigh Lyon of Burke, South Dakota and a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Lyon of Anthon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Randy Lyon of Burke, South Dakota; two brothers, Charlie Lyon of Anthon, Iowa and Lee Lyon of Springfield, Ohio; and a sister, Elsie of Spokane, WA. Archie will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
