Rev Ralph Jordon officiated. Mrs. Blythe Smith was organist. Casket bearers were Russel Fincham, Wendell Ladd, Archie Christensen, Warren Delp, Paul Fatka and Dean Swansen. Interment was in Paton Township Cemetery. Masonic graveside services were conducted by Rex Bottorf of Harcourt. Brown Funeral Home of Paton was in charge of arrangements. Archie Batcheller, son of Martin and Lydia Klippel Batcheller, was born July 14, 1895, at Lohrville. He died July 7 at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. Archie attended country school in Lena, IA. On Aug. 15, 1915, Archie was united in marriage to Miss Clara Louise Hansen. To this union were born five children: Martin of Paton, Elizabeth (Mrs. Leslie Tourte) of Paton, Eva (Mrs. Dean Walker) of Jefferson, Harley of Ogden, FL, and Jay who died in 1955. After their marriage the couple farmed near Paton until their retirement in 1946. Archie drove a school bus for several years and also sold cars for 20 years. In later years he helped his sons at the Phillips 66 Station in Paton. Archie was a member of the Gem Masonic Lodge No 429 AF & AM of Paton. He received his 50 year pin on April 12, 1974. He was also a charter member of Paton Lions Club. Survivors include his four children, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mary Batcheller of Paton; 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Clara in 1965, son Jay; and one great grandchild, Daniel Williams. Source: Jefferson Bee; July 11, 1978
